FEELING FINE IN WEEK NINE

Not too shabby, right?
We took six of eight picks on Saturday including two huge UPSET SPECIALS. Not a bad day at the office as we start to wrap up the first two-thirds of the season.

If we had to miss on games, we're okay with the outcomes. Georgia Tech surprised us by trouncing Pitt, 56-28. Of course, six turnovers played a large role in that win. And, hometown hero, LSU's Anthony Jennings, managed to to upset Ole Miss, throwing for the winning touchdown with 5:07 to left in the game.

YOUR WEEKEND REWIND....

THE GOOD
Big Brother showed the Wolverines who runs the state as Sparty won in East Lansing, 35-11. It appears that #8 Michigan State has the inside track to representing the East barring a major let down. Only one big test remains for the Spartans: #13 Ohio State on November 8

#1 Mississippi State held off stubborn Kentucky, 45-31. A much improved Wildcat team stayed within a touchdown of the mutts until late in the game when a kickoff return went for a 61 yard touchdown.

#5 Auburn survived a scare to edge South Carolina 42-35 despite Spurrier employing fourth down calls and on-side kicks. And the Gamecocks remain winless over Auburn forever. Ouch.

In our first UPSET SPECIAL, #19 Utah knocked off #20 Southern Cal. The Utes tossed a touchdown pass to burst the Trojans with just 8 ticks left on the clock.

In our second UPSET SPECIAL, the #22 Mountaineers won a big road game beating the Pokes of Oklahoma State. Now the 'Neers, picked to be at the bottom of the Big 12, may, in fact, end up with a shot at the conference title.

It wasn't pretty, but #13 Ohio State clipped the Nittany Lions in a 2 overtime bonanza in Happy Valley. After blowing a 17 point lead, the Buckeyes rebounded in overtime to slip out of Beaver Stadium with a win, albeit an ugly one.

THE BAD
Remember the Greek myth of Icarus who flew so close to the sun that his wax wings melted and he plummeted back to earth? Sorta reminds of us what might be at hand in Oxford as Mississippi got nipped in Baton Rouge by the Tigers with a late winning drive that the Rebels could not answer. But the Rebs might be able to regain its altitude with two big games remaining: Auburn this Saturday and Mississippi State in the Egg Bowl. A lot more ball to come.

THE UGLY
Georgia Tech is fast becoming our 'Nebraska' from last season. You pick em to win, they lose. You pick em to lose, they win. And that's exactly what happened at Pitt as the Swarm leveraged six turnovers into points.  In fact, the Jackets have scored 87 points off of 16 turnovers this season (5.4 points per takeaway). That's second in the nation to Ole Miss.

This Thursday, the Golden Gator will share his thoughts on the World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party in Jacksonville as Florida and Georgia hook up for their annual slugfest.
