MOP UP MONDAY

I don't know about you but last Saturday was pretty cra-cra with some huge Showdown Shakeouts that have rankings and college football playoff ramifications...and head coaching impact.

We had another 6-2 weekend including a big UPSET SPECIAL of Northwestern over Notre Dame. Who saw that coming...besides us?

Awesome numbers
And, we were on track for a perfect 8-0 before Florida State kicked it into high gear to win late, and Georgia Tech took care of the Clemson kitties. We were close but no cigar.

So we're now sitting at 63-33 - 65%, with our Season to Date picks. Not a bad batting average at all which translates to supreme green. So you should have plenty of pesos in your pocket to pick me up something extra special for Christmas, right?

Okay, enough premumble. Let's take a quick look back at the weekend...

YOUR WEEKEND REWIND™...

We missed on the Georgia Tech game as they dominated Clemson from the opening gun and won 28-6.  Of course, losing a quarterback like DeShaun Watson in the first quarter played a major role since the Clemson backup, Stout, seemed to complete more passes to guys in the Old Gold and White than orange and blue. Georgia Tech feels like our Nebraska of 2013. You pickem to win, they lose. You pickem to lose they win....

War Eagle plucked
We lost this one but the Noles stay perfect as they came back late to nip the Canes and claim the longest winning streak (25) in FSU history. Great teams always find a way to win and that's what Jumbo's Seminoles did...

Georgia embarrassed the Tigers/War Eagles/Plainsmen/Dying Oaks as the Bulldog defense muzzled Nick Marshall and the Auburn offense...

Alabama showed why they deserve the top ranking as they took care of business over the Cowbells, 25-20. And don't be fooled by the score; it was never that close...

Pat Fitzpatrick's stock just tripled as his Northwestern Wildcats UPSET the Irish in South Bend, 43-40, by erasing an 11 point deficit. AND WE PICKED THIS ONE RIGHT. Look for Fitz to get some serious looks at making a move to a bigger, higher profile program...

The Buckeyes were frozen nuts but thawed long enough to beat the Golden Gophers, 31-24, in Minneapolis. TJ Barrett is making Ohio State fans ask, "Braxton who?"...

Sparty rebounded with a solid thrashing over the Turtles, 37-15. Next up is an easy one with Rutgers...

One name to remember for the Heisman Trophy: Melvin Gordon. The Badger back logged 408 rushing yards in Wisconsin's spanking of Nebraska, setting a new FBS rushing record. And what did we tell you about Pelini's struggles to win on the road?

Big Orange can of WhoopAss
LATE HITS

Tennessee opened up a can of whoop ass on the Kentucky Kitty Kats, 50-16. Will be interesting to see if the Vols can bring the same of level of intensity when they host Mizzou in Rocky Top this Saturday...

It never ceases to amaze me how Georgia Tech fans fail to fill their stadium. This past Saturday, the Jackets were playing a ranked Clemson team with a lot at stake, especially keeping pace with Duke who lost to Va Tech. It was a bit chilly but it turned out to be a beautiful day on the Flats and a pretty entertaining game, especially for the Techsters. So come on, GT fans. Support your program. It's on a roll!...

The Coaching Carousel starts today as Florida has cut loose Will Muschamp who was never able to get the Gator train back on track. A lot of names have already surfaced as possible hires so it will be an interesting few weeks as Foley looks for his next "Urban Meyer." Meanwhile, Will is quietly snickering about the Gators' win over UGA.
