READY TO WIN IN WEEK TEN

We've had another great week catching up with Golden Gator and Gurley Gal and getting their
perspectives on the World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party in Jacksonville. But now we focus on the next slate of games which has some solid match ups.

Take a read and make your call.

YOUR GREAT EIGHT™ WINNING PICKS...

Tennessee @ South Carolina...Johnny Majors was known to say "they remember what you do in November." Thus far this season, we've seen marginal improvement from the Vols as they continue to struggle and the hillbillies are starving for wins. Perhaps that changes today. Last Halloween the Vols knocked off the Gamecocks in Knoxville. But the Vols continue to struggle despite an entertaining effort by replacement QB Dobbs last week against Alabama. This team is still lost in the wilderness and Spurrier will only add to its misery. Take the Cocks in Columbia as Butch continues his search for more bricks.

Florida vs #9 Georgia...in the 92 meeting of these two programs, the Bulldawgs look to make it four in a row in the World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party. The mutts are favored by 11+ points but we don't think the Gators can cover the spread. With this loss, you can bet the house that Muschamp will be gone at season's end, if not sooner (reference Ron Zook who was canned with four games remaining). We thought new OC Kurt Roper would have been more successful but the quarterback play for the Gators has been abysmal. Take Georgia as they lock in on the SEC East.

#14 Arizona @ #25 UCLA...key stat to consider in this matchup: UCLA has given up over 200 rushing yards in 3 of their last 4 games. Another key note: UCLA has allowed 30 points in each of their last four games. Both teams feature strong quarterbacks that can motor. If Arizona can crank up its run game to go with Anu Solomans passing, we like the Wildcats.  In an UPSET SPECIAL, take Rich Rod's Wildcats over the Bruins.

#4 Auburn @ #7 Ole Miss...a lot is riding on this game for both teams. The loser drops out of the college playoff discussion with two losses.  Last week the Rebs took it on the chin from LSU but still managed to hang onto a lofty perch in the first ever college playoff ranking (albeit grossly premature). The "bad" Bo Wallace showed up in Baton Rouge last week with inconsistent play. Meanwhile Auburn has struggled on defense, allowing over 500 yards in each of its last two games. Look for Auburn's run game outside the tackles to dominate with Cameron Artis-Payne and Nick Marshall. Aubbie wins in Oxford.

Virginia @ Georgia Tech...with both teams having two losses, this is a critical game in the ACC Coastal division. Tech appears to be back on track running their triple option led by QB Justin Thomas, ranked 4th in ACC rushing. The weather in the ATL could be dicey, making the ball slick and the turf soft. But we think the Jackets will do enough to send the Cavs back home with a third loss. Take Johnson's Bees over the Wahoos.

#18 Utah @ #15 Arizona State...the Sun Devils have won 10 straight in this series and Saturday nite's winner in Tempe is guaranteed at least a share of first place in the Pac-12 South. But this is a different Utes team. Key stat: Utah has 35 sacks through 7 games, leading all FBS teams. The Sun Devils were sacked SEVEN times last week. Look for the Utes to dial up the pressure as they try to slow the ASU offense.  Take Utah in another UPSET SPECIAL.

#10 TCU @ #20 West Virginia...the TCU stat guy deserves some extra pay after last Saturday's scoring rampage over Texas Tech , 82-27, and he may well need some advance pay as the Horny Toads come to Morganton. The 'Neers Trevone Boykin takes on Clint Trickett, the Big 12's number one passer and the nation's number 3 receiver, KevinWhite. Check out how fast TCU scores. They lead the nation in touchdown drives of 1 minute or less (16) and 3 plays or fewer (16). That's called quick strike scoring. This should be a goody to watch. Take the Horned Toads over the mountainmen.

Stanford @ #5 Oregon...the winner of this game locks up the Pac-12 North. More importantly, the Ducks need the win to stay close to the college playoff wrangling but has always struggled with the Cardinal, a team that Marcus Mariota has yet to beat. That should change on Saturday. Take the Ducks and look for them to break into the playoff brackets.

[note to my Big Ten peeps...we didn't intend to slight your conference but there are absolutely no compelling matchups this week. But no worries. There are some dandies on the horizon.]
